Cascadia EQ blog

Since the Japan earthquake, I've had many calls from readers asking for more information about  earthquake dangers in Southwest Washington. Sunday's page 1 story is an attempt to answer some of them,  and they'll be a story later this week about how to prepare and plan for the next big quake. But no story can answer all the questions readers seem to have. So here's a chance to ask them, make us aware of things we're missing and express your opinion. I am a self-avowed nut for this type of thing, so bring it on! Let's have some fun.

  1. Gret info in your article. I learned things I never knew about the damns up north.

  2. Same for me...a lot speculation goes thought your mind after such an event as the Japan quake. It's good to know some real facts. Please keep it coming.

  3. I was shocked when Grover Laseke told me what kind of flood we'd have if the Cowlitz dams broke. I can't imagine a situation where the whole thing would breach suddenly; but emergency planners have to take a worst-case scenario into account. I just hope we never have to find out what would really happen.
